Course Description
This program offers a number of advantages to senior people. It takes only three to three-and-a-half hours, it can be tailored very precisely to needs and situations, and there are no other group members observing.
The session gives the participant effective tools to help control any dealings with the media, and gives confidence that a positive outcome can be reached. Methods of how to develop and deliver a message are taught using a mix of theory, demonstration and practical exercises.

Course Outline
- The workings of the media are quickly explained.
- What the media want from the people they interview.
- Techniques which interviewees can use to control the situation.
- An issues management model [2A+3M] to ensure that you have a relevant, pro-active message to put across regardless of the media approach.
- How to use paper or e-mail, not an interview, as your main method of giving information.
- The art of composing and delivering direct, effective, useable quotes.
- How to structure watertight answers that cannot be challenged by an interviewer.
- How to keep control in longer style interview. How to stop interruption damage and stay on track.
- Preparation of colourful messages that keep the interviewer and audience interested and at the same time serve your purpose.
- Advice on presentation style.
Once messages are developed, intensive practical sessions give the participant the chance to deliver them using a real life scenario. Senior journalists, who have signed confidentiality agreements, may join the group for practice interviews and for immediate feedback. The practice interviews are recorded and are given to the clients at the end of the course. Course notes are supplied.
